Who we are

Located in rural South Korea, The Alternative Technology Center(AT Center) was founded in 2006 by the current director, Dong Keun Lee. He has dedicated his life to creating a community that embodies simplicity, sustainability and environmental stewardship. These have been and will continue to be our primary motives. Our goal is to create a sustainable village which lives out and shares this voluntary simple life with others. A huge step was taken in this direction in 2006 and our dream is to continue to build and grow our community using holistic methods and alternative technologies to become more sustainable. Our vision is to share our lifestyle with others, especially those in the 3rd world and we do this by providing educational opportunities through our workshops, camps, and volunteer programs. Our research and development of alternative technology is especially focused on the application of intermediate and appropriate technology. We also equip NGO's and individuals with the knowledge and experience necessary to lead a more holistic and sustainable approach to development. The AT Center is striving to create a more sustainable future and we invite YOU to join with us.

The Alternative Technology Center is one of three departments within The Dandelion Community. The community also runs an alternative middle and high school and a handcraft center. We are located in the district of Sancheong, which is in the Kyungnam province of South Korea.
